Course Overview

This FreightPath course covers the scope of services provided by U.S. Customs Brokers on behalf of importers and the interaction between brokers, importers, CBP, other government agencies, transportation carriers and other service providers.

It addresses in detail the operational environment, parties brokers interact with, workflow within a customs broker operation, internal “”responsible supervision””, procedures and task competencies needed to obtain release of cargo from customs custody, selection of the appropriate type of customs “”entry”” procedure based on the particulars (i.e., content, value, origin and importer situation), on-forwarding of shipments to final destination within the U.S., and “”post-entry”” requirements that always or sometimes may arise.

This course culminates with the processing of customs entries into a simulated CBP Automated Broker Interface (ABI) system.
