Discusses all aspects of US governmental regulations including DOC, BIS, EAR, DDTC, ITAR, OFAC, DOC, FTR and CBP. This course will address export controls and procedures under the above regulations plus some additional agencies with specialized export responsibilities based on particular products. Export violation penalties are also described.

Course Overview

In this FreightPath course you will learn about U.S. government regulation of exports, which are promulgated by and enforced by multiple U.S. Agencies, including:

  • Department of Commerce (DOC), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), The Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Department of State, U.S. Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • U.S. Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
  • Department of Commerce (DOC), Bureau of the Census, Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR) (collection of trade statistics)
  • U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), export enforcement at the time and place of export

This course will address export controls and procedures under the above regulations plus some additional agencies with specialized export responsibilities based on particular products. We will also focus on the operational responsibilities a forwarders must fulfill in accomplishing exports on behalf of their shippers, and how to recognize and avoid becoming complicit in export violations.
