Course Overview
This course provides a practical understanding of Non-Vessel-Operating Common Carriers (NVOCCs) and their role in global shipping. Participants will learn why shippers and forwarders rely on NVOCCs for less-than-container load (LCL) consignments, how NVOCCs create competitive value against vessel-operating carriers, and how shipper associations strengthen smaller operators. The course covers rate-setting factors, quotation requirements, and the benefits and responsibilities tied to NVOCC Service Arrangements (NSAs) and Negotiated Rate Arrangements (NRAs). Learners will also explore the scope of NVO operations, including planning and scheduling for both LCL and full container load (FCL) shipments, as well as booking and cargo acceptance processes.
